What to use plastic wrap for when packing for moving
August 16, 2019
As already mentioned, stretch wrap is extremely versatile and can be put to good use when packing for a move. It will help you:
Secure bubble wrap, paper padding, moving blankets and other protective materials around an item. A length of stretch wrap will hold all the packing materials in place, so that they don’t come off during the transportation;
Keep drawers and cabinet doors closed. A few layers of plastic wrap will keep furniture doors and drawers locked into place. This will make the bulky pieces easier to lift and carry and will prevent them from opening during movement. The same applies to plastic bin lids as well;
Keep the contents of a drawer safely contained inside it. Instead of packing up the contents of your kitchen cabinet drawers, desk drawers, dresser drawers, jewelry displays, etc., you can keep all your silverware, office materials, clothes, and jewels contained with the help of saran wrap. Just wrap a few layers of it around the whole drawer and it will be ready for shipment without any risk of the contents falling out during movement;
Bundle like items together. You can use stretch wrap to keep smaller moving boxes stacked together, to stack small items (such as flatware, for example), so that they stay organized and take less space in a moving box, to bundle up bed rails, curtain rods, and other items of similar size, and even to pack clothes directly from the hangers (just wrap some plastic wrap around them to keep them together and add a protective coating to your garments);
Keep power cords and wires secured and organized. All you need to do is wrap them in plastic wrap around the appliance or electric device you’re preparing for moving;
Prevent dust and dirt from getting to your items. Plastic wrap will keep your belongings free from dust and will protect them against dirt and stains (it is especially useful for fabric furniture pieces as they can be wrapped directly in the plastic material);
Prevent spills. Plastic warp provides the perfect solution for transporting bathroom products, kitchen ingredients, and any other liquid products. All you need to do is remove the caps or tops from the bottles or jars, place a piece of stretch wrap over the opening, and secure it with a rubber band. When you put the cap or top back on, the bottle or jar will be leakproof and ready for transportation;
Keep rugs, mats, and other similar items tightly rolled.
